Cauvery Calling Campaign will support farmers to plant 242 Cr trees to revitalize Cauvery.
1kilo of rice in India is costing 5660lts of water. 71% of Karnataka farmers and 83% of Tamil Nadu farmers are in debt leading them to commit suicide. This drastic step is because of low amount of water and less soil fertility. In Cauvery basin, 83% of the trees are gone in last 50yrs. This campaign is a demonstration to turn the land back to its fertility. To improve the condition of the soil, there are only 2 sources – leaves from the tree and animal waste. 1 tree can sequester between 38,000 to 45,000lts of water, So 242cr trees are what we are planning to plant on the basin of Cauvery river. This issue will be resolved in next 12yrs if start taking the step from today.
