This is a game changer to revitalise Cauvery river in order to transform the lives of 84 million.
Over time, drastic climate change due to global warming and meteorite rise in deforestation, has parched the 802 km long river, endangering the water supply of 84 million people.
Cauvery Calling is an agroforestry initiative and is a part of a nationwide movement – Rally for River to save rivers in the country. Afforestation on the banks of the river will help to replenish the soil’s nutrients and carbon content, making the soil fertile. Enriched soil can store more rainwater, which can feed the Cauvery river.
This campaign will support farmers to plant 242 crore trees in the Cauvery basin by adopting agroforestry. This will have the benefit of improving soil health, reviving the river & ground water, increase farmer’s income and supply water to 84 million people.
This campaign will be a prototype to resolving the water crisis worldwide.
