It is most heartening to hear that the top 10 students with exceptional academic records this year are all high-flying young ladies with ambitious aspirations. While some are looking to become doctors and provide subsidized medical treatment in their community, others strive to get into civil services, teaching, and the lucrative business world. In this blog post, get a glimpse of their future plans.

This year, all class 10 toppers from the nine Isha Vidhya schools are girls. With jaw-dropping scores and soaring aspirations, each one of them has blossomed with novel academic interventions.

The first thought that naturally crosses our mind on hearing such wonderful results is – “What do the students want to do next?” Read a short and personal sharing of their dreams, and unsurprisingly, most of them aspire to make a difference in their communities.

Reshma-IV-Erode

IAS Dreams

Reshma, who is the topper across all Isha Vidhya schools is a single-parent student. She says, “My mother never pressured me to study for better marks and that motivated me to just do my best.” Her mother works as a maid. Reshma believes that an IAS officer is the most respected position in the district, so she aspires to become one as a tribute to her mother, donor, and school.

Mithunasree_IV_Salem

A Doctor for All

Mithunasree, a perpetual class topper, says, “I had the passion to become a doctor from my childhood. I have seen poor people suffering from diseases because they couldn’t afford healthcare, so I want to work in a public hospital and also offer subsidized services in my clinic.”

Oviya_IV_Coimbatore

Benevolently Yours

Oviya is grateful for her sponsored education and wants to emulate her donor in the future and support students like her. She says, “I want to become a doctor and serve the poor, especially in the rural areas. Besides treating them, I want to support their children’s education by providing scholarships for them.”

Hemashree_Apollo_IV

Business Minded

Hemashree says, “I don't know why, but I’ve always dreamed of being successful in life and running a company. I’m inspired by Steve Jobs and want to become a business personality like him.” As a school leader, Hemashree has honed her leadership qualities, learned to speak fearlessly, and interact easily with people.

Harini_IV_Cuddalore

What the Doctor Ordered

Harini hails from a remote, educationally backward fishing village. She has always done well academically and cultivated leadership qualities as a class leader. She says, “I want to work in the medical field and primarily serve people in rural areas. For this, I require authority. After becoming a doctor, I want to pursue IAS and work as a medical secretary.”

AnjanaBhagavathi_IV_Nagercoil

Teacher, teacher!

Anjana loves math and scored 99/100 in the final exams. She aspires to become a college lecturer in math – like her aunt who is her role model. She says, “Teaching is my passion. Peer Learning at Isha Vidhya made me happy and helped me learn more while teaching my juniors.”

Devadharshini_IV_Dharmapur

Inclined to Help

Devadharshini is self-motivated, likes competition, but doesn’t crave to be a topper. She wants to work in the Civil Services and says, “I want to help rural people because I’m also from a poor family. I especially want to work for the uplift of women in Uttar Pradesh.”

Janani_IV_Villupuram

Heart of the Matter

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan inspires Janani. She says, “Heart diseases are life-threatening and their treatment is costly so I wish to become a cardiologist and provide service to the poor even if it means that I will earn less. Besides, I’m curious to see the human heart and listen to the music of a heart with a stethoscope.”

Surusthika_IV_Tuticorin

Calculated Moves

Surusthika wants to become a Chartered Accountant and go on to work in her uncle’s firm, primarily due to her everlasting love for math, in which she scored 93/100. She says, “As a class leader, I became more responsible, and recollecting and reviewing new lessons to clear my classmates’ doubts has helped me thrive.”
