Isha Volunteers Gear up for Run Melbourne!

Isha volunteers Down Under are gearing up to walk and/or run up to 21KM this Sunday, 27th July 2014 (with expected temperatures ranging sub 10oC with a possible chance of rain) to raise funds for Isha Vidhya, a non-profit education initiative from Isha Foundation for the socio-economic development of rural children across Tamil Nadu.

Here’s how the volunteers are getting prepared for the big event.

“Run Melbourne is something that I have been participating in, generally for fitness and to get out of the winter slumber. After thinking of giving this year a miss with a new job and new lifestyle, I was inspired by my wife to jump on board again this year. The reason is to raise money for Isha Vidhya – a great cause! What a fantastic way to get in shape and at the same time to raise money for kids that would otherwise go without education. I have thoroughly enjoyed training with fellow ISHAs and look forward to this being a regular event on the ISHA calendar. Donate here or join us now!”

“My shoes are on!
Never in my life had I thought I’d participate in a long distance run. Though I had participated in a few runs organised by my office (the distance was reasonably less compared to my age) however due to lack of training, I could never complete a stretch of 5 KM without having pit stops in between. This time, I have registered for the 10 KM Run Melbourne and determined to complete with a decent time. That said, my participation is not to prove the capability, but hoping that, it may inspire you to support my friends and me to raise money for IshaVidhya.

One important thing that we could pass on to the next generation is education (hence empowering) them and Isha Vidhya is doing just that. Help us nurture the children of today, leaders of tomorrow.”

Hello y’all
This Sunday me and some friends of mine are running 10km through Melbourne to raise funds for Isha Vidhya – a school in rural India that provides education for lil’ kids who otherwise can’t access or afford it. Without support for the school, some of the kids are destined to remain in poverty. In supporting our run, you will help to create the possibility for the rural children to pursue higher education or find gainful employment, to build a strong foundation for the future, and to help alleviate them out of poverty. More info can be found here: http://www.ishavidhya.org/

We’ve set ourselves the target of $10,000. It’s only the beginning of the week and we’ve already breached the $1,000 mark! No amount is too small, it will all add up to tangibly change your fellow humans’ lives and make the planet a better place. Pledges can be made here: http://giveisha.org/run2educate
