Teaching the Teachers
During the summer holidays, Isha Vidhya teachers used this valuable time to sharpen their skills, while incorporating modern concepts like financial literacy, technology, and English into their curriculum. They strive to make learning a dynamic and enjoyable process for all students, no matter where they are in their journeys.
During the summer holidays, our teachers attended workshops designed to enhance their skills and become better teachers. The cheerful atmosphere in the workshops made it an engaging experience for all.
We salute our teachers who strive to transform their students by continuously refining their skills.
Financial Literacy Workshop
The workshop focused on how to systematically educate students on financial matters such as spending, saving money, investing, prioritizing expenditures, and more.
Sridevi, a teacher from Isha Vidhya Dharmapuri shares, “Earlier, my students struggled to prepare a monthly budget, but when I revised the lesson to relate to their everyday experiences, like shopping, they sailed through. When a student shared that she now empathizes with her father’s spending dilemma, I was gratified to see the transition in her.”
Remedial Workshop
Select teachers were trained to support students who struggle to succeed in math, English, and Tamil. They learned to coach and assist the struggling learners so that they improve in their respective classes.
Vinu Priya from Isha Vidhya Karur says, “I came away with useful knowledge of how to engage the students in activities and games to ease their learning. I find them more eager to learn now, especially when I include rhymes in the content.”
Sex Education Workshop
Teachers learned how to conduct sex education classes and initiate conversations with the students on a subject they might be reluctant to address.
Thilagavathi, Principal of Isha Vidhya Erode says, “The workshop helped me unreservedly conduct sessions for Classes 9 – 12 and the students opened up and asked questions freely. This new addition to our curriculum is superb, as our students learn it in school rather than gathering exaggerated and incorrect information from elsewhere.”
English Workshop
The workshop educated teachers on how they can enhance their students’ writing skills in various formats. They learned to analyse literature with respect to writing style, grammar, and tone.
Karthikasree of Isha Vidhya Nagercoil shared, “Besides sharpening my writing skills, the workshop has helped me guide my students well, which has made them more confident in constructing sentences properly and writing coherently.”
Techvidhya Workshop
The workshop updated teachers on the current curriculum for Classes 3 – 8, which includes digital platforms like Inkscape, Code for Life, and Turtle programming in Python.
Pandidurai from Isha Vidhya Dharmapuri says, “Besides enriching my knowledge and bringing me up-to-date on AI content like ChatGPT, the updates are helping me provide informative answers to my students. They are now more engaged with AI tools as the interactive nature of AI can make learning dynamic and intriguing for students.”
