Reflections from Mumbai Climate Week 2026

By Anand E, Project Director, Cauvery Calling
I attended the inaugural Mumbai Climate Week 2026 as part of the Save Soil Cauvery Calling team. The event was an initiative of Project Mumbai and brought together over 2,000 delegates from 30 countries.
The event was organized around three thematic areas. The first was nature-based solutions, covering regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and related approaches. The second focused on managing pollution in both urban and rural areas. The third addressed transitions to cleaner energy.
Cauvery Calling was selected as a finalist in the Mumbai Climate Week Innovation Challenge. We presented our work on how tree-based agriculture can restore soil health and improve water retention — and why this approach can be scaled as a practical climate solution. The organizers also provided us with a stall at no cost, which gave us a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate our work directly to delegates throughout the event.
The quality of participation was strong. Speakers came from the UN, from government — including senior officers and ministers — and from the development sector, with many having spent several decades implementing and scaling solutions on the ground.
What stood out to me personally was the number of young entrepreneurs, private-sector companies, and startups there. These were people dedicating their lives to finding solutions for the environmental problems we face today. Seeing that was genuinely inspiring. It showed that hundreds and thousands of people are already working in the solution space — and that is something worth knowing.
We also came away with several new connections. A number of good acquaintances, friendships, and potential partnerships were formed over the course of the week, which is, in many ways, as valuable as the formal programming.
Overall, it was a lot of learning, inspiration, and motivation to continue the work we have been doing. We are grateful to the Mumbai Climate Week organizers for the opportunity and for the support they extended to our team.
URESNIČIMO TO!
