At Isha Vidhya, hands-on science labs and devoted teachers nurture the students’ strengths and academic ambition. This newsletter features alumni who have overcome the high cost of higher education to pursue careers in medicine. From MBBS to Ayurveda, Siddha, and naturopathy, they share how family sacrifice, sponsored education, and determination keep them moving toward their goals, whether becoming neurosurgeons, gynecologists, or doctors who serve their hometowns. Each story is one of grit and gratitude.

At Isha Vidhya, hands-on activities in our up-to-date science labs foster a keen interest in the subject, while the teachers work devotedly to support students—recognizing their strengths, understanding their capabilities, and guiding them toward their academic goals.

In this newsletter, read about the determination and grit of our alumni as they overcome the challenges of costly higher education to pursue their life goals.

"My dream to serve the poor steered me toward pursuing medicine. I completed my MBBS and am now inspired to pursue neurosurgery because of the delicate, complex, and intricate nature of neural anatomy. Transitioning from being a medical student to a doctor has made me more responsible. I began my professional journey with the loss of a patient, which deeply impacted me—but being called 'Doctor' is fulfilling."

Om Sri Vishwa is interning at his alma mater, Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital, Salem.

"Becoming a doctor was not just my dream; my parents dreamed of it for me too. Career guidance at Isha Vidhya cemented my resolve to pursue medicine, and I dedicated two years to studying for NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). I am currently preparing for NEET PG to pursue a specialty. My sponsored education has taught me to value every penny that helped me study this far, and the donors who supported me have inspired me to give back many times over when I am in a position to do so."

Keerthana completed her MBBS at Coimbatore Medical College earlier this year.

"I am the first in my family to pursue medicine. My father studied until Class 10, and my mother never went to school. But they wholeheartedly encouraged my education, despite their initial worries about the expense. Sponsored schooling and medical college education helped reduce the financial burden on my family and allowed me to focus fully on my studies. I want to become a gynecologist to serve women."

Niranjana is pursuing her MBBS at Theni Government Medical College.

"I declared my intent to become a doctor at the Annual Day function when I was in Class 3. I am a person with a disability, so my parents have constantly supported me and want me to be independent. I self-studied for NEET for free, watching lectures and working through the practice question bank on YouTube. My parents' struggle to educate me inspires me to shine academically, and I want to make them proud by becoming the first doctor in the family."

Jothi Sri is pursuing her MBBS at Government Dharmapuri Medical College.

"I wanted to pursue medicine to serve society and build a respected and meaningful career. Online coaching classes and a three-month crash course helped me prepare for NEET. Subsequently, AYUSH counselling based on my NEET scores helped me get into an Ayurvedic college in 2022. A teacher at Isha Vidhya once encouraged me by saying, 'Believe in yourself, and success will follow.' Her words have kept me motivated ever since."

Kanishka is pursuing her BAMS (Ayurveda) at Nandha Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Erode.

"I am the first person in my village to pursue MBBS. My parents are middle-school dropouts and wanted me to become a doctor. So my professional journey is a tribute to them, and I am elated to see many young students in my neighborhood aspiring to emulate me. NEET coaching sessions at Isha Vidhya were very helpful in preparing for the test, especially since I couldn't afford to join a coaching class."

"My parents used to tell me that doctors are next to God because they can save lives and reduce people's suffering. Hearing this from a young age greatly motivated me to choose this career. Being addressed as 'Doctor' reminds me of my diligent journey and my parents' words, which still ring in my ears and inspire me. I am now preparing for the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test to gain more knowledge and clinical practice that will help me become a skilled Siddha physician."

"I want to establish a hospital in my hometown. My desire to serve people and improve healthcare inspired me to study sincerely and pursue medicine after Class 12. I feel grateful that my school education was sponsored and my college expenses are subsidized, as I'm studying at a government college. I aspire to specialize in acupuncture and energy medicine, gain work experience at a reputed hospital, and then serve my hometown."
