Across Isha Vidhya schools, students are embracing sports as a powerful way to build strength, discipline, and self-belief. From their first victories to competing at zonal, district, and even state levels, these young achievers share how athletics has shaped their confidence and determination. With consistent training and the support of dedicated Physical Education teachers, their journeys reflect how sport can ignite aspiration and open new possibilities.

Isha Vidhya’s students participate in athletics and team sports almost every day at school. Specially designed uniforms allow ease of movement and help improve their performance. Our Physical Education teachers are constantly on the lookout for students who demonstrate a sporty streak and nurture their talent with extra attention and coaching.
In this blog, students who were victorious in multiple events this year reminisce about their first sporting experience and how sports have made them more zealous.

“My father, who is a sportsman, encouraged me to pursue sports. My first triumph in the 100m running race in Class 7 spurred me to improve my timing and win more medals. When I lost an important contest, it taught me to learn from my mistakes and helped me improve my skills and overall attitude toward sports.”
Sarjanaa Shri won in the 100m running race at the zonal and district levels and the 200m running race at the zonal level this year.

“Sports motivate me to rise early to train. My desire to excel in sports prompts me to keep at it even when I’m exhausted, and my medals constantly energize me. Even without much family encouragement, I’m self-driven and want to keep winning and compete at the state level.”
Dharshini won in the triple jump and high jump at the zonal level, and long jump at the zonal, district, and state levels this year.
“I admire Usain Bolt’s speed, confidence, and dedication, and I won my first 200m race in Class 9. Over the past three years, I have become increasingly involved in sports, which has enhanced my strength and confidence. Winning at the zonal, district, and state levels in the last 2–3 years has been uplifting. I plan to pursue physical education as a career.”
Mahalakshmi won the 100m and 200m running races, the 100m hurdles, and the 100m relay at the zonal level this year.
“Watching the Olympics inspired me to pursue athletics. After winning the zonal under-14 throwball match in 2019, I wanted to win at the next level. That victory was a huge confidence booster—it proved that sincere effort yields success. Kabaddi player Ajith Kumar inspires me, and I want to play the sport at the national level.”
Pranav won in the shot put and discus throw events at the zonal level this year.
“I was bitten by the sports bug while participating in sports at school. Mike Powell and Gokul Pandiyan inspire me with their discipline and diligence. I love athletics because it improves my fitness and helps me stay focused. I plan to pursue artificial intelligence and data science, but will continue to take part in sports to stay fit, disciplined, and active.”
Arun won in the long jump and triple jump events at the zonal level this year.
“Inspired by my brother, I followed in his footsteps into sports. When I won my first medal, he encouraged me to aspire to win at the next level. My goal is to become a state-level medalist. I train for at least an hour every day, and when I feel tired, I push myself to never give up.”
Arul won the 200m running race and high jump at the zonal level this year.
“My first victory in running in Class 6 made me want to win all sporting events and fill my cupboard with medals and certificates. I aim to run like a world champion, and before a competition, I focus on practicing well and assuring myself that I will win. My motto, ‘Sports is my life,’ motivates me to give my best. My goal is to represent India one day.”
Kesavan won the 80m hurdles and 100m running race at the zonal level this year.
“I took to handball after winning a zonal-level match in Class 6. Competing in the CM Trophy at 14 years of age as part of the under-19 team was a heady experience. I want to play for the Indian team. I like athletics because it makes me feel strong and healthy. My failures motivate me to learn from my mistakes and keep striving.”
Rohith won the 100m running race and high jump at the zonal level, and the long jump at the district level this year.
“I love spending time playing sports, and the encouragement from my seniors and P.E. teachers inspires me further. I train every day at school, and the intense desire to win gold motivates me to rise early and train rigorously. My parents feel very proud of my achievements, and my goal is to win gold for my country in athletics.”
Venkatraman won the shot put and the 100m running race at the zonal and district levels this year.
