Our schools recently conducted an Open Day event, which allowed parents and guest visitors to examine the school facilities and experience the methodologies we employ to teach our students. It was also an opportunity to present our school to the parents in the neighborhood.

How the event was organized:

The principals identified what to present and delegated the task to the teachers who ideated, created charts, etc., to support communication. They also trained students to guide parents on school tours and devised demo modules to exhibit our teaching methodologies. Even our school bus drivers chipped in by encouraging parents to attend the event while on their pick-up and drop-off rounds.

“Seeing the parents excited to witness their children engaged in the event was fulfilling. Parents are unaware of our teaching methodologies, so the event was eye-opening for them. Besides, it was satisfying to see that many visitors were eager to enroll their children in Isha Vidhya. Leading the event enhanced my skills to guide, plan, and build teamwork.”

“Managing school work and preparing for the event offered lessons in time management. With guidance from the principal and vice-principal, we teachers brainstormed, chose the best ideas, and divided the work among ourselves. Although I’ve been with Isha Vidhya for 13 years, participating in the organization of this event and witnessing its success was a glorious experience and has left me with beautiful memories.”

“It was stimulating to get appreciated by parents and visitors for my presentation skills at the event. I was assigned to present our teaching methodologies to visitors, and as I have been presenting the school to visitors for three years, preparing for this was simple. But, assisting in creating presentation projects along with my class homework provided lessons in multitasking.”

“We were impressed at the ease with which students communicated in English. A Class 5 student spoke with the clarity and confidence you’d expect from a Class 10 student - awesome! Earlier, our knowledge about the school was limited by what our daughter brought home, so the Open Day event was unexpectedly informative. The excellent efforts of the principal, teachers, drivers, aunties, and students to present the school and the skit on Save Water left a lasting impression.”
