For some Isha Vidhya students, the journey to academic success begins in a remedial class, where individual attention and focused support help them overcome learning challenges and regain confidence. Many go on to return to the main class and achieve strong results in Class 10. In this newsletter, nine students from across Isha Vidhya schools share how their experiences in remedial classes helped shape their academic journeys and aspirations for the future.

When Isha Vidhya students consistently struggle to keep up and grasp lessons, they are moved to a remedial class, where a dedicated teacher gives them special attention to help them improve, transition to the borderline class, and eventually return to the main class.
This year, of the 548 Class 10 students who passed, 83> had spent some time in the remedial class. In this newsletter, a student from each of the nine schools recounts how that experience shaped them and steered them towards a promising future.

"I missed my friends, but the remedial class teachers helped me understand concepts better. I spent a beneficial year there in Class 8, gained the confidence to voice my doubts, and grew convinced that improving my academic scores would restore my parents' belief in me. My scholarship was another motivation to study well and honor my donor. My Class 10 scores helped me get into Class 11 effortlessly, and I now hope to fulfil my grandfather's wish by joining the Army after Class 12."

"At first, I felt bad and cried, but when the remedial class teacher gave me individual attention, explained lessons clearly, and encouraged me, I became focused on improving. My teachers continued to guide me after I returned to the main class six months later and found it demanding. The reading habits I built in the remedial class made succeeding in Class 10 manageable. I'm studying Computer Science and want to pursue Medical Engineering after Class 12."

"I was worried my classmates would think I was weak in studies when I spent a year in the remedial class in Class 3. With my mother and uncle's encouragement, I became determined to improve, diligently follow my teacher's instructions, and do my best. By Class 10, I was understanding my lessons well and scoring good marks. My good scores helped me get admission into a diploma course in Electronics and Communication Engineering, which aligns with my interest in electronic gadgets and technology."

"Individual attention, teaching methods that helped me understand lessons, and earnestly doing my homework helped me improve. After three years in the remedial class, I was elated to return to the main class in Class 9. I achieved my goal of scoring distinction marks in Class 10, which helped me get direct admission into the Commerce stream in Class 11. I want to become a businessman and be my own boss."

"When I was moved to the remedial class in Class 7, I felt a bit nervous since it was a new class, but I adjusted quickly, made new friends, and focused on my studies. After a year, when I returned to the main class, I felt reassured and confident. In Class 10, I strove to understand my lessons instead of cramming, and was intent on progressing to Class 11. My musician father studied only until middle school, so I am eager to graduate. I aspire to become a businessman."

"I felt happy in the remedial class because of all the extra care and attention the teachers showered on me. Even though I was there for two years, my parents were at peace seeing my progress, and I returned to the main class with renewed verve. I made a home study timetable, studied extra hours, and was determined to score well in Class 10. I'm studying in the Commerce stream in Class 11 and aim to fulfil my dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant."

"When I moved back to the main class, I was committed to studying well. I felt sad about having to attend the remedial class twice, in Classes 3 and 6, but my teachers' and friends' efforts to help me filled me with gratitude. Instead of celebrating when I cleared Class 10, I met my teachers and thanked them. I'm studying in the Accountancy stream in Class 11 and want to pursue fashion designing after completing Class 12."
"When I first moved to the remedial class, I was sad and missed my friends in the main class. I was in the remedial class for just a term in Class 9, as I studied with determination to return quickly to the main class. My teachers and helpful friends made this possible. In Class 10, I focused on studying well to ensure I could continue with my friends in Class 11. Both my parents studied only until middle school, so I am intent on becoming a graduate, then a bank manager, and making them proud."

"At first, I found it difficult to attend the remedial class because I felt ashamed. But once my parents understood its relevance and purpose, they encouraged me to stay steadfast, which helped me accept it. Gradually, I gained confidence and improved in my studies. In Class 10, I scored the highest in math, my favorite subject, and opted to study in the Commerce stream in Class 11."
