Nilavembu Kashayam seems to have turned sweet, at least for the children of Theethipalayam. The kids show the way to adults on taking their daily dose of the bitter herbal drink with a smile. Eager volunteers transcend language barrier to join the campaign to #BeatTheVirus.

Sweet Kashayam
Little Sadhana who stays in Theethipalayam ran up to a volunteer and asked for a cup of Nilavembu Kashayam. Without turning up her nose or complaining about the bitter, immunity-booster herbal drink, she drank it quickly.
She said: “Kashayam is sweet, it is not bitter at all and I do not feel bad at all when I drink it.” On most days, Sadhana and four other children of this village are among the first in queue and most eager to drink their daily dose of Nilavembu Kashayam. They have become a source of inspiration for the villagers of Theethipalayam.
Distribution of the immunity boosting herbal drink has drawn much appreciation from various other quarters too. Apart from community members, essential service providers and government officials too have lauded the efforts.
Blessings From Anbu Illam
Aged women who stay at Anbu Illam, an old age home in one of the villages, showered praises and blessings on the volunteers for reaching food to them on time daily. One of the residents expressed her gratitude and told the volunteers: “We thank you for bringing tasty, cooked food every day. Our blessings are with you all.”
Language No Barrier
The will to #BeatTheVirus has transcended the language barrier in many villages. People from different parts of the country, who are now in Coimbatore, have joined Isha volunteers to do their bit in this fight to contain the pandemic. In many such cases, when lack of language compatibility threatened to become an obstruction, hand gestures and nods of head proved to be as effective. No hurdle is tall enough to stop them from working for the safety of the community. “Language is no more a barrier. People from different walks of life have joined us in distribution of food, Nilavembu Kashayam and lending assistance to local residents,” said a volunteer.
In TT Palayam, the volunteers got two enthusiastic assistants in Jothi and Kokila who rushed to their aid as they walked into the village. Bubbling with enthusiasm, the two helped in completion of all the tasks quickly. Right from sticking posters for awareness, to food distribution, the duo made work seem easy for the volunteers.
