This quarter, Cauvery Calling enabled the plantation of 2 million trees. Over 1,800 farmers were trained in tree-based agriculture, empowering rural communities to restore soil health and secure their livelihoods. The 160 inspiring women nursery workers, whose years of dedication have enabled millions of saplings and countless transformations, were also celebrated.

Farmer Hero of the Quarter: From Unused Land to a ₹3 Crore Green Enterprise

In 2013, Sureshkumar began planting trees just to make use of idle land. With guidance from Cauvery Calling, he shifted from a teak-only plan to a diverse mix of species suited to his soil—mahogany, Indian kino, red sanders, rosewood, and Indian portia. Today, 1,541 trees thrive on his once-barren land, and with 200 more added last year, his green investment could yield over ₹3 crore in the next decade, averaging ₹20,000 per tree.

Over 300 farmers gathered for a full-day Cauvery Calling workshop focused on integrating coconut cultivation with tree-based farming. Led by experts and successful model farmers, the event showcased sustainable practices that boost income, recharge groundwater, and promote ecological balance. Farmers learned about intercropping, value addition, natural pest control, and more.
