Cauvery Calling conducted a Mega Farmers’ Conference on sustainable tree-based agriculture on 27 December 2025 in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The conference was attended by 10,000+ farmers and featured 14 sessions led by domain experts addressing critical dimensions of tree-based agriculture such as farm models, scientific approaches, and timber markets.


Farmer of the Quarter - Lakshmi | A Small Farmer’s Smart Irrigation Hack

Lakshmi planted 150 saplings but had no irrigation facility on her farm, and only a bicycle to carry water. Using her creativity, she turned discarded 2-liter plastic bottles into a simple drip irrigation system, cutting her farm’s weekly water requirement from 1,500 liters to 300 liters—something she could now transport on her bicycle.

CNN India Features Cauvery Calling’s Women-led Nursery: From Daily Wage Laborers to Tree-Makers

CNN News18 featured Cauvery Calling’s women-run nursery in Cuddalore, and celebrated the extraordinary journey of the 200 rural women who worked there. Many of these women had no education or prior training, and were daily wage workers without any guarantee of full time livelihood prior to joining the nursery. Yet in just a year, they mastered the leadership and organizational skills required, and were producing 8.5 million saplings annually, supplying nearly 9,000 farmers.

An external third-party impact assessment was conducted by Sattva Consulting to demonstrate the on-ground impact of Cauvery Calling. The study, spanning 150 farmers across 8 districts of the Cauvery Basin, examined farmers’ experiences across different stages of adoption—from onboarding, training and support received to challenges navigated during the transition to tree-based agriculture. The findings offered clear, evidence-based insights into the program’s outcomes.

Global Attention on Soil at COP30
Events
At COP30 in Belém, Save Soil hosted several discussions on soil health, drawing from its grassroots work with 250,000 farmers. The campaign's momentum was highlighted in interviews with outlets like Reuters and China News, while the launch of the "Secure Soil, Save Life" report generated 200 global articles. Overall, Save Soil’s presence resulted in 700 media reports across 63 countries and nearly one million social media views worldwide.
