Bonn, Germany: On a mission to save the world's soils from extinction, Sadhguru joined the Executive Secretary of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)Ibrahim Thiaw in Bonn, as part of his 100-day Journey for the Save Soil movement.

Both of them echoed that everything we need in our daily lives comes from soil and conscious actions can make a real difference in preserving this precious resource and reversing degradation. "Most governments are still treating soil as an inert substance that you can manage by adding or subtracting chemicals. We first need the consciousness that we are dealing with life and not material. Soil is not a resource, it is the source of our life," said Sadhguru.

Sadhguru and Mr. Thiaw agreed that land and soil restoration can be a simple and powerful solution to the key environmental challenges of today, including climate change, biodiversity loss and destruction of ecosystems. Sadhguru is currently on a 100-day lone motorcycle journey that will cover 30,000 km across 25 nations to call on policymakers to make soil regeneration a priority.

Sadhguru received a warm welcome in Bonn from city officials and the executive management of the UN agencies in Germany.  The UNCCD is a UN agency established to be the global voice for land, which promotes practices that avoid, reduce and reverse land degradation.

Sadhguru is scheduled to address the 15th session of the Conference of Parties to the UNCCD   (COP15) in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, in May this year. COP15 will focus on land management and effective systems to halt and reverse land degradation. Political leaders from 170 countries are expected to attend.
